A few months ago my mom and I decided to get a cat. We hadn't had one for a couple years and we thought it would be nice to have someone else around the house other than us. So on July 15th we took a trip to the humane society and adopted our cat Binx. He is a full black cat and is the sweetest cat we have ever adopted. My mom and I soon discovered that our little Binx is one weird cat.
After about two days of living in my house Binx started feeling a lot more comfortable around everything except this one spot in the house. He started to act a little funny around the back door. He would walk very carefully around the door and wouldn't really stand in one spot when he was near it.
The blinds to the back sliding door were open one night and Binx didn't like it very much. He walked around like he had seen something. Or maybe he had seen his reflection in the glass but he wasn't acting like he usually did. So this kinda brought questions into my mind. Do cats get scared when they see their reflection? Can they really see things that humans can't?
My first thought was he is afraid of his reflection, but maybe he's afraid of the unknown--if it's dark he can't see what's out there. Does he act that way during the day. Great photo.
ReplyDeleteFirst off I just want to say I think it's amazing that you adopted, yay for you for saving a life. Also what your cat does is pretty creepy. I will pray for you and hope that your cat is just scared of his own shadow and it's nothing else he's reacting to.... But you know it might be good to do research on your house and the area around just to make sure it has a clean past. Also I agree with Ms. Farias that is a great photo, the way you captured him in that stance you know he's on guard. Is he territorial? Like how is he with other cats? Because if he sees his reflection maybe he thinks its another cat invading his space.
ReplyDeleteI have always wondered the same thing, can animals see things that us humans cannot? Or do they simply sense them? I agree with Gale, you should research your house and the area to find our more things about it. But maybe he is simply scared of his reflection. Or maybe he's scared of the dark outside? Is he an indoor cat or outdoor cat?
